OREA Brewdown 2024 Homebrewers Edition
20grams Coffee Roastery
Rules & Regulations
1. Overview
The idea for this competition is to create a gathering which serves as a hub for connection, interaction, and idea exchange, fostering a sense of camaraderie and collaboration within the coffee community. This competition represents a dynamic platform for home brewer enthusiasts to exhibit their prowess in the art of brewing.
Nordic style roasts tend to be hot, fast, and light to eliminate any bitter, "roasty" flavors in the end cup and let those bright, sweet flavors shine.
2. Competitors
Each competition should strive to have at most 18 Competitors. The minimum number of competitors allowed is 9. There is no limit to age. You must not be working in a coffee industry for the last 6 months.
Wild-Card
The winner will be selected at random from the 16 competitors. The winner will join the 2 finalists in the final round.
3. Competition Coffee

The competition organizer provides a minimum of 100g of roasted coffee - by 2 weeks before the competition - for practice. And another 100g of coffee for the competition. The roast date should be at least seven days from the roast and not older than 28 days. The competition coffee would have a similar rest time to the practice coffee. The competition will focus on “clean coffees” and not allow any infused (processed) or otherwise tampered with coffee - in any processing stage. Flavors like alcohol or other artificial notes are not allowed.
4. Competition Water

Three judges will evaluate each brew (cupping) directly after completing the round and point (1,2,3) on their favourite cup. If there is a draw (each judge points at different cups), it will be the cup pointed out by the Head Judge that will move on to the next round.
Preparation Time
Each competitor will have 5 minutes to set up their station. The competitor can ground coffee and pre-wet the paper filters. They can also put their water kettles on standby.
